Teacher-paced or self-paced: which should you choose?

Teacher-paced

Everyone sees the same question and only the teacher moves on. After each question you can show the spread of answers, reveal the right one and discuss it.

• Best for: lessons, revision, discussion, younger classes.
• You can pause, go back, and set a countdown per question.
• Students can look back at slides already shown.

Self-paced

Each student moves through the questions at their own speed and submits at the end. The teacher sees a progress bar per student and which question each is on.

• Best for: tests, homework, mixed-ability groups.
• You can set a time limit for the whole test.
• Question order can be shuffled per student.

A simple rule

If you plan to talk between questions, use teacher-paced. If you plan to stay quiet, use self-paced.
