What is Askroom Live?
Askroom Live is a free web tool for live classroom assessment, for classes from kindergarten to grade 12. A teacher builds an assessment, test, poll, drawing task or worksheet, shares a join code, and sees every student's answer on their own screen as it is given.
Is Askroom Live free?
Yes. Askroom Live is free for teachers and students. There are no ads, and student answers are never sold or shared.
Is it suitable for young children?
Yes. Set an assessment for a junior class and students see big friendly buttons and a playful look. Questions can be read aloud, and children can answer by drawing, speaking, or tapping a picture, so reading and typing are never a barrier. Older students get a calmer look, a formula keyboard for maths and science, reading passages and exam mode.
Does Askroom Live support students with special educational needs (SEN, SEND)?
Yes. A teacher can give any one student extra time or no time limit, reading aloud, larger text, a calm screen, and no exam alerts for students who use assistive tools; only that student's screen changes and classmates are not told. Every student also has an Aa button for text size, high contrast, easy-read letters, spacing, a slower voice, a calm screen and tapping instead of dragging, and can take a break that stops their clock. It works with screen readers, and pictures can carry descriptions.
Do students need an account or an app?
No. Students open the site in any browser, type the join code and their name, and they are in. There is nothing to install and no student account.
Which devices does it work on?
Any phone, tablet, Chromebook or laptop with a modern web browser. The student screen adapts to the size of the device.
