Turn a PDF worksheet into a live activity students write on

Steps

1. In the editor press Add and choose Worksheet.
2. Upload the PDF. Each page is turned into a picture of the page.
3. Go live. Students open the worksheet and move between pages with the page numbers.
4. Watch the live work grid. Each student shows as In progress or Submitted.
5. Open a student's work to write on it in red, give a mark, or leave a note.

What students can do on a page

• Write with a pen in six colours and three thicknesses.
• Highlight.
• Type text onto the page.
• Select anything they have added to move, duplicate or delete it.
• Undo and redo.
• Zoom in, and move around the zoomed page.

What to check before class

• Open Preview and look at every page. A scanned PDF with faint print may need a darker scan.
• Keep worksheets to a few pages. Short worksheets load faster on school Wi-Fi.
• On phones, tell students to zoom in before writing.

When paper is still better

Long handwritten working is slower on a small touch screen than on paper. A worksheet works best on tablets, Chromebooks with touch, or laptops, and for tasks like labelling, circling, matching and short working.
